Poor defense cost Hunters second defeat

​Two Lazy defense on the right flank (outside center and right wing) cost the PNG HUNTERS their game against the Burleigh Bears in the ANZAC KOKODA challenge on Monday. A fumbled by #3 of a sure try set play move summed up the PNG HUNTERS first half performance that saw the score line of 14-0 in the first half. The dummy took a fair while to click into action. With the injection of PUARA into the match towards the end of first half the hunters looked threatening. The little general commandeering in the second half couldn't finish it off for the PNG HUNTERS. Bland Abavu on the left wing was in scintillating form. Scored the first try for the PNG HUNTERS only minutes into the second half and was on his game in both defense and carting the ball up relieving forwards. The big boys up front and off the bench did their job well. The PNG HUNTERS will have to work on their mental focus. Three games now they have got themselves into catch up footfall situation. Sometimes could prove costly like in the ANZAC KOKODA challenge. A perfect example of mind not game ready was straight from kick off. The ball ended up rolling out of play in goal straight from kick off conceding a 20 meter penalty. PNG HUNTERS will have to work on GAME MIND FOCUS and come away from catch up footie . Overall it was a good game for the PNG HUNTERS. Bears win was with a little bit of help from the game officials. Bears first try was off a clear knock on by Bears that wasn't called by referee and touch judge and wasn't even referred to the bunker. Burleigh Bears 20 PNG Hunters 18.
