HAVING a big win at home over wooden spooners the Central Queensland Capras last weekend, the PNG Hunters have regrouped and are aiming for their 10th win in a row when they face the Redcliffe Dolphins at Dolphin oval in Queensland.
Hunters coach Michael Marum has retained an unchanged line-up from last weekend, saying that the team effort in their record 68-4 win was tremendous and he would aim to maintain that form against the ninth-placed Dolphins. Winger David Lapua and forward Nickson Borana, who made the most of their time on the paddock last week, impressed Marum and have been retained. Winger Lapua grabbed a double while Borana scored his first try for the Hunters coming off the bench. Marum said players would maintain their spots in the team with consistent performances and that went for the rookies as well as the more established players. “Right now the boys are doing their best coming up with impressive performances week-in, week-out and I’m happy about every one of them. I am just telling them to maintain that and not lose focus,” Marum said. On the injury front, prop Enoch Maki is suffering from a minor knee injury and will have until today to prove his fitness. Lawrence Tu’u has a problem obtaining a visa for the flight to Brisbane on Friday but Marum said he was hopeful. With the majority of the Hunters players named in the rugby league team to represent the country during the Pacific Games, Marum said their main focus was on this weekend’s Round 17 fixture. “Even though the selected players are psyched up to play in the Pacific Games, they know that this weekend’s game is a big one, and I believe they will be prepared,” Marum said.
