The Seagulls wasted no time after a cross kick hit the upright bar and landed in the hands of a speeding Manly player who regathered the ball and planted next to the uprights in the first minute to take the early lead 6 -0.
The Hunters regrouped and captain Eliab scored for the Hunters. Hunters halfback, Ase Boas sent the ball between the uprights and equalized the score 6 all.
The visitors fought back again with a converted try to extend their lead to 12 - 6. Seagulls half back shot a field goal right on half time to go into the sheds with 13 - 6 lead.
In the second half, it was all Hunters who took possessions, in attack and in defence and kept the visitors scoreless. A penalty was awarded to the Hunters and Ase Boas shot a penalty to reduced the margin to 13 - 8.
In the next play saw Hunters forward, Otio crossed over for the Hunters to steal the lead from the visitors 14 - 13 after a successful conversion. Hunters fullback Stargroth Amean was in his devastating form in kick returns and in attack. He scored under the posts to further extend the lead to 20 - 13.
Otio crossed over again for his second try and the Hunters led comfortably 26 - 13. A hard running forward, Henry Noki ran through a gap and set up crowd favourite Willie Minoga who brushed off few Manly players to score next to the uprights. Boas added the extras and the Hunters led 32 - 13 with 5 minutes on the clock.
A nice ball movement from Ase Boas to Adex Wera and an inside pass from Wera set up Adam Korave to sealed the game 36 - 13 at full time.
