THE Wynnnum Manly Seagulls are 80 minutes away from a Queensland Cup grand final berth after coming from behind to beat Ipswich 34-22 last Sunday.
The Seagulls meet Easts on Sunday at Langlands Park after the Tigers fell to an 8-7 defeat to the Northern Pride in last Saturday’s qualifying final. In the junior competition, Wynnum are through to the FOGS Cup (U20) decider on September 28 after beating Redcliffe, 32-24 last Sunday. Redcliffe will meet Easts Tigers on Sunday for the right to play the Seagulls. In the FOGS Colts Challenge, Burleigh Bears clinched a 26-12 win over Redcliffe at Pizzey Park last Saturday and Wynnum Manly beat Sunshine Coast 38-14 last Sunday. Wynnum will play Redcliffe with the winner progressing to the Colts decider against Burleigh. In related news, Q-Cup fans will rock to the music of Thirsty Merc when Queensland’s spiritual home of rugby league, Suncorp Stadium, hosts the grand final on September 28.
