FORMER Agmark Guria Kevin Frank has signed a two-year contract with the Parkes Spacemen rugby league football club in the New South Wales country competition.
The former Prime Minister’s XIII back had a one-year stint with the Forbes Magpies in the Group 11 competition which is part of the NSW Country League. Frank left for Sydney today. Frank has been engaged by the club to work for Chemstore Ltd, an industrial glass products company — while playing. He confirmed that his family will later move down to stay with him in Sydney. Franksaid yesterday that he was happy to further his rugby league career in Australia. The 32-year-old still harbours a desire to represent PNG and said he would be willing to play in the national colours if called up. He will be the fourth player from PNG to have joined the Spaceman after former Kumuls Rodney Pora, Larsen Marabe and Nixon Kolo had stints there. “We had several PNG players playing for Parkes and it’s a privilege to join them for the next two seasons,” Frank, who plays centre or in backrow, said. The Enga local broke into the PNG Prime Minister’s XIII and later Kumuls, when he played for the Port Moresby Vipers in 2009. His dream of further call-ups to the Kumuls saw him join the Gurias in 2010 but he returned from Kokopo in 2011 to play for the Vipers. He was back playing with the Gurias in the 2012 and 2013 seasons. It was there that Frank got an opportunity at the Magpies, after playing for the Gurias in a trial match against a the Canterbury Bulldog’s Under-20 last February. The National Comments are closed.
