​SP PNG Hunters Secure 42-30 Win Over Tweed Heads Seagulls

Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea – The SP PNG Hunters delivered an impressive performance at the National Football Stadium, defeating the Tweed Heads Seagulls 42-30. The result solidifies their standing in the Hostplus Cup and highlights their strong form this season.

The Hunters' attack was spearheaded by a series of tries from several key players. Judah Rimbu kicked off the scoring with a try in the first minute, soon followed by Valentine Richard’s contribution at the 5-minute mark. Brandon Nima made a significant impact with tries at the 32nd and 69th minutes, while Sanny Wabo added two tries at the 38th and 57th minutes. Joshua Lau also made his mark with a try at the 45th minute, showcasing the Hunters' offensive strength.

Jamie Mavoko played a crucial role in the Hunters’ victory, successfully converting six of their tries. His accurate conversions occurred at the 2nd, 33rd, 39th, 48th, 59th, and 71st minutes, underscoring his reliability and skill under pressure.

The Tweed Heads Seagulls put up a valiant effort but were unable to keep pace with the Hunters. They scored five tries, with Toby Marks scoring at the 10th minute, Carter Gordon at the 15th minute, and Lindon McGrady at the 20th minute. Ioane Seiuli and Tom Steadman added tries at the 61st and 65th minutes, respectively. McGrady also excelled in conversions, successfully completing four attempts at the 11th, 16th, 22nd, 63rd, and 66th minutes.

At halftime, the SP PNG Hunters led by a slim margin of 22-18. The second half saw the Hunters extend their lead and secure the victory with well-executed strategies and effective play.
