SP Hunters kept their finals hopes alive with a crushing 56-12 win over Burleigh Bears in Kokopo this afternoon.
The win means the Hunters are still in the hunt to knock off the Ipswich Jets for fifth place.
The Hunters razzle dazzle show brought back their some smile on coach Michael Marum’s face at least.
The Hunters exceptional but frustrating season came down to this game.
Hunters turned up ready to play. The Bears backline and defence
arguably the best in the competition broke down as the home side pilled 40
unanswered points in the first half. In the second half Bears fullback
Henare Wells tried his best trying out run outside Hunters backline but the PNG
boys shut him quickly.
Hunters scored 16 points while the visitors saved save to score two converted try to lose 12-56.
It was the Hunters superior pack in the forwards that laid their foundation for a much needed
victory
