A NATIONAL rugby league team player has been fined K400 for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without due care.
The Kokopo district court found Noel Zeming (pictured) guilty and fined him. According to court files, the incident occurred on March 20. He was charged by police on April 9 with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without due care and attention. He appeared in court last Wednesday. Magistrate George Kerker fined Zeming K200 on the first two counts in default six months in prison. He ordered that bail money be converted to court fine. He was fined K200 on the second count in default six months in prison, and that the bail be converted to fine. Kerker suspended Zeming’s driver’s licence and gave him until July 15 to surrender it to police. Meanwhile, Hunters coach Michael Marum yesterday said the team management had given Zeming his first and last warning not to repeat the offences. He could face expulsion from the team if found guilty again. Marum said they had disciplined Zeming by suspending him from playing in two games. Marum said Zeming would be solely responsible for the court fines. He said this should serve as a warning to other players in the team not to get themselves in trouble with the law.
