The Eagles lead with 22 points, followed closely by the Mioks and Muruks with 21 points each. The Gurias hold fourth place with 20 points, while the Tigers and Dabaris are tied for fifth with 19 points each.

The competition for the minor premiership remains fiercely contested, with only a few points separating the top teams. The race for the 6th position is particularly close, with the Gurias, Tigers, and Dabaris all vying for the spot. The final three rounds of the season are expected to be crucial.

Currently sitting in 7th place with 16 points, the Waghi Tumbe face an uphill battle to break into the top six. The charges stem from incidents during the Eagles' round four clash with Central Dabaris at the Jonah Ambane Oval in Minj, Jiwaka.
Andrew, playing in the centre position for the Eagles, was found guilty of swearing at referee Bonny Bin and refusing to leave the field after being sin-binned during the match. As a result, he now faces a suspension of more than 10 weeks, pending the outcome of the disciplinary process.
Pathways and performance general manager of PNGNRLC, Tony Archer, stated that Andrew has 48 hours to respond to the charges before disciplinary action is taken. "The player is charged, and it depends on if the player pleads guilty and accepts the penalty," Archer explained. "The club has 48 hours to make a decision or make a submission."

Eagles head coach Francis Ray refrained from commenting immediately, indicating that the team management was set to discuss Andrew's charges in a meeting last night. "We knew of the committee’s decision on social media and will comment after our meeting tonight," Ray told The National.
Meanwhile, Central Dabaris released a statement on their Facebook page, expressing their expectation for a fair outcome from the disciplinary process. "We will allow that process to take its course and expect that a judicious outcome will be delivered, upholding the integrity of the competition managers and does not bring the game further into disrepute," the statement read.
In a twist to the saga, Archer admitted that referee Bin was at fault for changing his decision late in the match, which ended in an 18-18 draw. Despite the controversy, Bin has been stood down from officiating in this weekend’s round five matches. Further investigations into the actions of the club, its officials, and game day staff are underway.
Archer emphasized the importance of upholding professionalism and respect for match officials, stating, "Respecting the decision of a match referee and the correct application of the rules of the game are essential. We are driving hard in improving the professionalism of our game, and to have this incident occur is unfortunate and not to the standards we require."
As the rugby league community awaits the outcome of the disciplinary proceedings, the incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to maintain integrity and sportsmanship within the competition.
Also check out

Digicel Cup : Round 5 Results

Digicel Cup : Round 5 Results

https://hunters.pngfacts.com/digicel-cup-news--results/digicel-cup-round-5-results

https://hunters.pngfacts.com/digicel-cup-news--results/digicel-cup-round-5-results#comments

2022 Digicel Cup

Lae Tigers have thrashed the Wigmen wrapping up the double header in Lae.At halftime the home side led 18-4, and didn't look back.MAN OF THE MATCH PROUDLY SPONSORED BY DIGICEL PNG - JOSHUA MIRE (TIGERS)Below is the results after round 5 Next : Lae Snax Tigers Down Mendi Muruks To Book Grand Final Spot [...]

Lae Tigers have thrashed the Wigmen wrapping up the double header in Lae.
At halftime the home side led 18-4, and didn't look back.
MAN OF THE MATCH PROUDLY SPONSORED BY DIGICEL PNG - JOSHUA MIRE (TIGERS)

Below is the results after round 5

Next : Lae Snax Tigers Down Mendi Muruks To Book Grand Final Spot

Lae Snax Tigers down Mendi Muruks to Book Grand Final Spot

https://hunters.pngfacts.com/digicel-cup-news--results/lae-snax-tigers-down-mendi-muruks-to-book-grand-final-spot

https://hunters.pngfacts.com/digicel-cup-news--results/lae-snax-tigers-down-mendi-muruks-to-book-grand-final-spot#comments

Mendi Muruks

The Lae Snax Tigers held of determined Muruks outfit a convincing win with 14 - 10 score. If you are able to watch the highlight of their match against the Dabaris, you would see that.
Head Coach Rodrick Puname is a strict man of discipline; always promote young players and emphasis on a more structured way of playing. This is having a positive impact so far on the team.

Having a reliable fullback like Dickson Pipi is very important. He is also a strong defender and has improved a lot in delivering link balls to the outside backs. This has been so fruitful with young wingers Bob Tenza and Leon Undupiea being able to score tries almost every week. They are both very athletic with so much speed to burn and has acrobatic try scoring ability which is a bonus.
The halves pairing of Wesly Batari and Josiah Jimmy seems to be working well since regular five-eight Milex Winis got injured in round 3. Batari brings in a slick passing game and good experience from his former team Rabaul Gurias while young Jimmy completes the missing piece. Jimmy has nailed almost all conversations from the sideline as well and this could be the key ingredient to take Muruks all the way.
Another notable inclusion veteran lock Ismael Balkawa who complete the halves pairing so well. He is a very experience campaigner and very flexible too , steeping in as an extra half to connect set plays has been beneficial and would has been a key factor to the team’s strong campaign this season.
Other notable players are; prop Nelson Yei and Julias Yakopa who have been playing really well lately. They are both very mobile and workaholic in the forwards department. A call up to the PNG Hunters is inevitable.
Puname’s men are making a strong statement in this year’s campaign and I think they have just the perfect team to get the job done. It would be wonderful to see if they can be able to maintain the same composure throughout the 80 minutes and not to get too comfortable when they are leading.
Otherwise, Muruks have put forward a very strong case for a premiership this year and it looks very promising.

Next : Lae Tigers Thrash Mt Hagen Eagles

Lae Tigers thrash Mt Hagen Eagles

https://hunters.pngfacts.com/digicel-cup-news--results/lae-tigers-thrash-mt-hagen-eagles

https://hunters.pngfacts.com/digicel-cup-news--results/lae-tigers-thrash-mt-hagen-eagles#comments

PNG Digicel Cup News

FIVE-EIGHTH Joshua Lau steered Lae Tigers to a 48-20 win over Mt Hagen Eagles in round one of the Digicel Cup in the Morobe capital on Sunday.Tigers vice-captain Roderick Tai opened the scoring with a try, the first of his double, but Lau missed the conversion.
