The company has come on board as a major jersey sponsor of the team this year, securing a spot on the prestigious SP Hunters jersey.
The sponsorship was officially announced on Thursday at the Trukai Industries Port Moresby office, by Trukai Industries CEO, Greg Worthington-Eyre, and witnessed by PNGRFL Chief Executive Officer, Brad Tassell, PNGRFL Board Chairman, Sandis Tsaka, SP Hunters Chairman, Graham Osborne & Trukai Industries GM Sales & Marketing, Andrew Daubney.
Trukai Industries has had a long association with rugby league both locally and on the international level, through its’ sponsorship of the North Queensland Cowboys over the past seven years and also the Agmark Gurias.
The company is also proud of supporting sports and its’ many organizations in the country. This support has been evident in the last 15 years where Trukai played an important role in supporting the PNG Olympic Committee to help Team PNG’s athletes prepare for various national and international sporting events.
Codes that have benefitted from Trukai’s support and sponsorship, both individuals and as a team, include weightlifting, rugby union and outrigger canoeing.
Mr Worthington-Eyre said this support is about promoting good health and living a healthy lifestyle.
“Trukai is big on health and nutrition and we will continue to support sporting codes that promote this. We have been very impressed with the much improved level of management & discipline the PNGRFL have brought to local rugby league and the success of the SP PNG Hunters is a testament to this. We are proud to support an organization that has enforced strong disciplines and commitment to health and nutrition, and the development of its players.”
Through this sponsorship, Trukai Industries’ also hopes to build a good relationship with the SP Hunters and the PNGRFL to continue to help develop rugby league in PNG and ensure this national team sets a positive example to other young Papua New Guinean sportsmen and women in the country.
“It’s fantastic that a highly recognisable and iconic brand such as Trukai wants to be involved with the SP Hunters. It’s important that we continue to attract private sponsorship investment in the program to ensure its long term viability and we are grateful to Trukai for their investment in the SP PNG Hunters program,” Tassell said.
